Alison is a Registered Nurse and Midwife who entered the field of fertility to undertake research projects which led to becoming a Fertility Nurse Specialist. Alison then moved into Management and become Quality and Business Manager of the Aberdeen Fertility Centre. She was the first and to date only nurse to become the Honorary Secretary of the British Fertility Society for which she is now a Trustee, and is the founding member of the Senior Infertility Nurses Group. Alison has worked closely with the Scottish Government in introducing national criteria for NHS funded IVF. The National Infertility Group has been meeting weekly to put a plan in place for restarting treatment following shut down as a result of COVID to ensure all patients in Scotland receive treatment in a safe environment. Alison has been invited by theĀ IFFS to join the Education Faculty to work on a web-based programme in line with global needs. She has worked with nurses from Nigeria and Ghana to introduce Fertility Nurses Groups which was a great experience and hopes to continue working with them when and if needed!
